The Phases of #Covid19 in Nigeria

We are risking a lot to survive the covid19 pandemic. The Northern declaration not to lockdown is beginning to hunt them. In the West, avoid crowded places, yet markets are open, vehicles are humanly tactfully compacted. Companies are bringing up special transport means for their staff protection. The talk of hygiene and safety is mere spoken English to many. The economy is loosing the cyclical flow of money due to unseen strange virus but manifesting.

#StayatHome #StaySafe

The Governemt has failed to provide for the citizenry. Phase 1, 14days was serious sensitization for the public to adjust to the trending issue. #LOCKDOWN was pronounced and relief materials were donated to the Government to serve the most vulnerable people. It was so unsatisfactory and resentful. The gathering of people is by head-counts while mortality rates is on the increase and new cases emerging especially in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja.

Phase 2: 14dys – Sudden increase in virus cases started emerging from other states. The three isolated states were declared for total lockdown but Ogun State created schedule for running the state economy so that money could flow and business thrive.

Phase 3: 7days – Kano state suffered serious pandemic rise in death toll and became the 4th State recording confirmed cases of infection and deaths as a result of the pandemic for an indedinite lockdown to cushion the effect. Come May 4th other states to resume for national working hours while educational and religious institutions remain closed, and Children indoor and compulsory use of Face Masks on the street of Nigeria.

All the prevailing preventive measures for the phase 1 still remain same

1. Religious places lockdown

2. Gathering not more than 15-20 with social distancing

3. Use of PPEs

4. Constant washing of hands with soap

5. Fixed price of commodity fuel of 125.

The Government has been constantly sensitising the public, providing for the vulnerable (not all). Now, we are back to square one phase 1 of the pandemic just because the life of the masses has been impairly touched.

We will recommend to the Government, in order to achieve good hygiene, safety and security of the people to come the May 4th declaration to:

1. Further reduce the fuel price

2. Subsidise for foods production

3. Partner with private coy to provide covid19 disinfectant at best affordable price for every household

4. Continue to promote the preventive measures for the virus; border closure etc

These approach will surely put some relief and confidence in the mind of the people. We should serve the people at this time. March 30th to May 4th are the 3phases of #covid19 effect in Nigeria so far. Let’s write a good history about our nation, Nigeria.
